Viktor Orbán's Biography

Viktor Orbán is a Hungarian politician who has served as Prime Minister of Hungary since 2010, and previously from 1998 to 2002. A prominent and polarizing figure, Orbán is well-known for his nationalist policies, strongman leadership style, and the concept of 'illiberal democracy.' Born on May 31, 1963, in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, he studied law at Eötvös Loránd University before entering politics during the late 1980s. Orbán gained national attention as a founding member of the Fidesz party and for his bold speeches during Hungary's transition away from communism. Under his leadership, Hungary has experienced significant political and economic changes, though his tenure has also attracted widespread criticism for undermining democratic institutions, restricting press freedom, and his tough stance on immigration.
