Luis Arce's Biography

Luis Alberto Arce Catacora, commonly known as Lucho, is a distinguished Bolivian economist and politician, best known for his current role as President of Bolivia since November 2020. Born on October 28, 1963, Arce graduated from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés and later earned a master’s degree from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. He gained national prominence as Bolivia’s Minister of Economy and Public Finance from 2006 to 2017 and again in 2019, where he was credited with engineering the country’s economic boom, reducing poverty, and promoting social inclusion under Evo Morales’ government. Arce’s pragmatic economic policies and focus on wealth redistribution have made him a central figure in Bolivia’s recent history. As President, he is committed to rebuilding Bolivia’s economy, promoting unity, and advancing social welfare programs.
